
This program revolves around the Daily Life Lessons learned by RAY, an eight year old artistic prodigy, his little brother MANNY, and his friends and classmates from his gifted class, JUNIE, ALEXIA, JO JO, & MEKA. All the kids are between seven and eight years old, African American, or Hispanic, and are gifted artistically or intellectually.
Topics range from social issues to personal introspection, with humor and uplifting infusion of Hip-Hop, contemporary jazz, and R&B music
The setting is low income, but the streets are bright and colorful. Small, run down starter homes with patchy lawns, next to, "Home Depot". style renovations with picket fences along side empty lots filled with community gardens in full bloom. Main streets have low rise buildings, storefronts, and traffic.
THE PRIMARY LOCATIONS ARE:
MID CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is the cornerstone to this community of FIRST GRADERS. The building is sprawling, the yard large and concrete. A PUBLIC SCHOOL, with lots of murals, but run down desks and chairs.
THE GIFTED CLASSROOM is the main location for the JUVIEZ. It is a colorful, though provoking, environment, with exotic class pets, maos of the world science exhibits, etc. In this room THE JUVIEZ' imaginations run wild.
Production Notes
We see everything through the eyes of a child. Not fearing the community they
live in, but enjoying the adventures of day to day living and learning.
The ADULTS are only seen when necessary, and play a supporting role in the Juviez world.
